Glory to God in the highest,
And on earth peace among men in whom he is well pleased
King James says this:
Glory to God in the highest,
And on earth peace, good will toward men
Yes, we need to play our part to receive God's pleasure and gift. He sent His Son as a gift, so that we may accept it and remain in His pleasure.
